Since I was young I was always into ‘moving’ whether it be swimming, running or climbing trees. After growing up a bit my passion for fitness, health and movement has developed and I now enjoy a number of sports alongside my training. Climbing is a huge love of mine and I boulder/climb regularly indoors and outdoors as much as possible. Sticking with the mountain theme, skiing is another passion of mine which grew even more whilst working as a chalet chef/ski guide in the French Alps.

 

I started professionally within the health and fitness field by studying for a degree in Sport and Exercise Science. Following this I worked in a gym which gave me a good insight into the industry and the pitfalls of trying to lose weight in a gym (the lack of information-particularly on nutrition, the unnecessary equipment not to mention the time taken to get to the gym). I believe personal training to be one of the most effective ways of achieving real long term results. Good health and fitness are my passion. Throughout my life I have continued to maintain a strong, toned physique and kept weight gain to a minimum my creating numerous fitness programmes online. I will be 50 this year and after eight years in the fitness industry, I still feel passionate about what I do and what an honour it is to enable women to change their lives! Physical fitness programmes are, in my opinion, the number one anti-ageing remedy and I thoroughly recommend them!

 

Session description:

I follow the nutritional protocol known as ‘Flexible Dieting’ or ‘IIFYM’, (if it fits your macros, your macros being protein, fat and carbs). As long as I eat at least 80% whole foods on a daily basis, the remaining food choices can be from what is perceived to be a less healthy option, e.g. chocolate, a glass of wine etc etc. As my moto is ‘because one size doesn’t fit all’, this diet may not suit everyone and some of you may prefer to adopt a ‘cleaner’ way of eating including a cheat day instead.

 

Of course it is important to be aware that your diet and exercise regime will be subject to change during different stages of your life. If you are pre-natal or post-natal for example, it will be necessary to avoid certain foods but there are also foods to enhance nutrition at these particular times. Later on in life when your hormones are raging at the onset and throughout the menopause, there are supplements that can reduce the impact this may have on your daily routine and ways to enhance fat loss. The difference this can have on how you are able to cope with the peri-menopause and the menopause should not be understimated. This also goes for exercise and fitness programming prescription so please contact a professional, like myself, before embarking on any new fitness regime.
