Before becoming a Nutritional Therapist, I worked in the stressful and pressured world of live communication and events within an agency environment, so I fully understand the daily challenges that most people face and the impact it can have on their health and their diet. I am registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Laboratory tests may be advised for more advanced exploration of underlying causes. Together, and in consideration of your own health goals, an initial action plan will be agreed. Supplements may also be recommended. Telephone and email support is included.

Having had two children within the space of two years I found myself aged 30 feeling very tired and run down! I developed a bad case of adult acne for which my GP prescribed the antibiotic Tetracycline which made some but not much difference to my symptoms. I continued to take the Tetracycline but my general health and wellbeing declined dramatically, I felt like I was on a downward spiral and I was suffering from bouts of depression too.

It was one of the things which eventually lead me towards taking a degree in Nutritional Therapy and learning so much more about how diet can affect our health and wellbeing. As a Nutritional Therapist we look for the root causes of people’s health problems. If you can find the underlying cause of symptoms and treat the source it is a far more effective and safer way of looking after our health than using drugs, and diet often had a large part to play here. Drugs tend to treat symptoms but not the cause and they often come with nasty side effects which are then treated with more drugs. It can becomes a viscous circle which is difficult to break free from and an ever downward spiral from a health point of view.

I completed my training as a Nutritional Therapist at the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) in London where I trained in the principles of Functional Medicine, a science-based method that assesses & treats the underlying causes of symptoms. I am registered and regulated by the British Association for Applied Nutritional Therapy (BANT) and is a member of The Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

I specialise in weight management, digestive health, pregnancy, hormones, female health, stress and energy enhancement. My approach is personal, supportive and tailored to your specific needs.

I have an immense passion for the healing power of food. The food we eat affects every cell in the body, making the difference between feeling ‘all right’ and feeling ‘great’! I am passionate about transforming my client’s relationship to food and their health. The degree of biological variation between individuals is too vast to guarantee that the same treatment will have the same effect for everyone, therefore I don’t have a one size fits all approach.

Session description:

When you undergo The MPH Method hormone tests I will adapt your results to a thorough and completely bespoke nutritional plan of action through effective meal planning and supplementation.

I will work with you on a one-to-one basis, investigating underlying causes of your symptoms. I may use clinic/ functional laboratory tests to help understand the root cause of your health concerns. Concentrating on the complete health of the client I will work together with you to design an individual realistic program that can help you reach your health goals.

My name is Sharmain; a registered Sport Dietitian with a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition and Dietetics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Sport Exercise Nutrition from the well recognised International Olympic Committee (IOC).

I have over 8 years of experience; which includes (NHS) clinical nutrition; working within specialist areas such as weight management, gastroenterology (the gut to you and I), oncology, hepatology and stroke rehabilitation to name just a few.

I was also the Lead Nutritionist with Bath Rugby Union during the 2008/9 and 2009/2010 seasons. Here I gained a better understanding into the professional world of elite sport, and specifically the challenges that athletes face when trying to achieve the right nutrition for their goals. Following this, I worked with London based rugby team Harlequins where I continued to help players to meet their body composition goals, support their recovery and more importantly improve their performance.

After four rewarding years within the NHS, I moved into a commercial career with Maxinutrition (aka Maximuscle owned by GlaxoSmithKline). Here, I had the chance to broaden my knowledge into the world of nutritional supplements; their use, their development and more importantly the science in which they are based upon. Responsible for supporting the marketing team by providing accurate sports nutrition messages, content and product usage recommendations. I also represented the company as the Nutrition Expert presenting to and writing for media publications such as Cosmopolitan, Mens Health, The Times, Daily Star, Perfect Wedding, The Metro and many more. I have been lucky enough to work with celebrities, elite athletes and budding weekend warriors alike, more recently so as Expert Sport Dietitian at the GSK Human Performance Lab.

Qualifications:

  • BSc (Hons) in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Sport Exercise Nutrition from the well recognised International Olympic Committee (IOC).
  • ISAK Level 1 Accreditation, Anthropometry
  • Post graduate course for Dietitians, Low FODMAP diet in functional gastrointestinal disorders. Kings College London

Years experience:

8 years

Hello, I’m Dr Stephanie Fade lover of food, science and health and founder of Eating Mindset. I have a degree (BSc) in Nutrition with First Class Honours and a Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics from Kings College, London University. As a Dietitian my work is regulated under UK law by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC.) To stay registered with the HCPC I have to demonstrate that I continue to meet the high standards they set throughout my career.

I use the title Dr because I have a PhD. This means that I have demonstrated expertise in assessing the quality and value of other people’s research and in designing, conducting and presenting my own research. I use these skills to make sense of the science behind the nutrition headlines and bust myths about diet and health. This is crucial in a popular field like nutrition where sensational claims are made almost every week.

I have learnt a vast amount from over 20 years’ experience in my profession and from parenting 2 children with additional needs that make it hard for them to eat healthily. It’s a pleasure to support other parents in their labour of love to help their children achieve a healthy diet.

All this means that you can be assured that I maintain expertise about how our bodies and minds work in relation to the food and drink we consume and that I can apply this knowledge to the practical challenges you face.

Session description:

I offer a totally individualised service. Before seeing clients I like to fully assess their current food and drink intake, their current understanding of diet and health and their lifestyle and dietary challenges. I do this using food diaries and simple questionnaires. By the time we meet face to face we can focus on your goals and discuss tailored strategies to tackle your specific issues. I help individuals and their families eat more healthily, lose weight and manage any diet related medical conditions they might have. I see clients at various locations around Watford and London. After your initial consultation you will receive a detailed, personalised report including links to recipes and practical resources to help you on your journey to better health. Follow up consultations can be offered via Skype/e-mail for your convenience.

Additional skills:

  • Weight Management
  • Women’s Health – pre-conception, pregnancy and menopause
  • Healthy ageing
  • Gut and digestive problems
  • Faddy eating in children
  • IBS and FODMAP

Qualifications:

  • BSc Nutrition with First Class Honours
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics
  • PhD

Years experience:

26 years

Pricing:
I charge £100/hour for face:face consultations and £80/hour for remote assessments
