I am an Australian trained Sports Massage Therapist and Naturopath with twenty years experience in the health and fitness industry including a period in the Australian Army as a medic. I have worked with international sports teams and also ran a sports clinic in the exclusive Alpine ski resort of Courchevel 1850. I have recently returned to London after working with the ex-Wallabies physio in private practice in Sydney.
My Sports Massage treatments include a range of techniques depending on the client needs. These include Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Dry Needling (using acupuncture needles) and PNF stretching. I advise on self help modalities following on from treatment i.e. foam rolling, stretching and specific exercises.
By working on the soft tissue (muscle), Sports Massage stimulates the muscular and nervous systems whilst improving blood circulation and lymphatic flow. This encourages the movement of fresh, nutrient rich, oxygenated blood to injured body tissues and the elimination of metabolic waste and toxins i.e.lactic acid. Thus, the body functions more efficiently and is able to counteract the debilitating effects of stressful modern day living.
My personal sporting interests in both snowboarding and triathlon means I know what it’s like to be fit and ‘on top of the world’ however, I also realise the hard work and dedication it takes to maintain a sense of health well being and feel that Sports Massage plays an intrinsic part in achieving these goals.
